Something as common as a regular going to a local diner becomes a fantastic story in this new, interesting epic. A small town with a local diner is your run off the mill American tradition – a waitress refills a regular’s coffee everyday and some chit chat follows. An unlikely friendship develops but one day, until one asks for a jaw dropping favor. What comes after is a spillage of their deepest secrets. It may be an unassuming with a simple plot but The Counter is packed with tons of surprises and is a testament that everyday is an opportunity to build connections.

The Counter is commissioned by the same company that brought theater fans masterpieces like The Refuge, Covenant, I Need That, Love Love Love, and tons more. Meanwhile, playwright Meghan Kennedy did exemplary work with Too Much, Too Much, Too Many and Napoli, Brooklyn. This fall, she presents a hilarious new play featuring remarkble actors Anthony Edwards as Paul, Amy Warren as Peg, and Susannah Flood as Katie.  Both Warren and Edwards are serving their Roundabout Theatre debut – so it’s a surefire interesting epic that will see new faces. Moreover, Tony Award-winning director David Cromer, who has done amazing work with The Band’s Visit comes in to lead this remarkable epic.

Meanwhile, the production is out to bring the ultimate dining experience with astounding and crafty work from designers, Walt Spangler on set, Obie winner Sarah Laux on costume, Stacey Derosier on lighting, and Christopher Darbassie on sound. Together, these fantastic designers put together an amazing show that provides the perfect backdrop for the most compellingly funny script to conquer Off Broadway this fall season.
